Case study · JNLED

6,600 products,one quote away.

JNLED has manufactured LED lighting in Hong Kong since 2010, for cargo ships, offshore platforms, cruise vessels, hotels and industry. We designed and built its new website: a catalogue of 6,600 products that buyers can search, filter and collect into one quote request, in five languages.

A lighting manufacturer's website is a catalogue problem before it is a design problem. JNLED's range runs to 6,600 products, from Neon-Flex and downlights to floodlights, ATEX fittings and marine searchlights, and most of them are versions of one family that differ only in wattage, colour temperature, beam angle or dimming. Buyers tend to arrive with a part number or a specification in mind, and they want the exact version, fast.

So the site is built around the catalogue. Every family groups its versions, with a switch between families and individual part numbers. Filters narrow a category by power, input voltage, IP rating, colour temperature and colour rendering. Search answers from every page as you type, by name or part number. And a quote list collects products and quantities from anywhere on the site into one request.

The catalogue comes from JNLED's own product spreadsheets: we mapped them to categories and markets, and the product pages are generated from that data, so the website follows the range instead of being retyped from it. Everything else, JNLED's team edits with content sections we designed for the site — they change the words, and the design takes care of itself.

Then we took it into German, Spanish, Portuguese and Dutch — products, categories, filters, forms and pages — each language at its own address and linked for search engines with hreflang. The homepage opens on a strip of Neon-Flex drawn in light, cycling through colours.

What we built

A catalogue that sells by specification.

Families, not a flat list

Versions of one product sit together, so buyers compare wattages, beams and colour temperatures in one place instead of paging through near-duplicates.

Search that knows part numbers

Type a name, a wattage or a part number on any page and matching products appear as you type.

Filters on real specifications

Power, input voltage, IP rating, colour temperature and colour rendering, built from the product data itself.

One quote list

Products and quantities from anywhere on the site, sent as a single request.

Five languages

English, German, Spanish, Portuguese and Dutch, each with its own URLs and hreflang for search engines.

Pages the team edits

Content sections designed for the site keep every page on the design, so JNLED's team edits words, not code.
